EARNS $5.4 MILLION IN SCHOLARSHIPS
The class of 2019 from Newport Central Catholic, 52 of 79 or 66% percent of the class, earned approximately $5.4 million in college scholarships. Collectively, graduates were accepted to 51 different colleges/universities across the country. Of the school’s 79 graduates, 91 percent plan to continue their education by attending 20 different colleges and universities. Five (5) graduates will attend Thomas More College. One (1) student plans to join the military. Notably, six graduates participated in the Governor’s Scholar Program. Twenty-three graduates are members of the National Honor Society and eighteen (18) graduates are members of the National Spanish Honor Society. Of the graduates, 21 students successfully completed 1 or more Advanced Placement/Dual Credit Courses during their 4 years of study. In addition, 28 graduates successfully completed 1 or more Advanced Placement/Dual Credit Courses during their senior year. Ten (10) students achieved a score of 30 or higher on the ACT. Forty-two seniors earned academic honor awards during this school year. To date, 14 graduates plan to continue their athletic careers at the college level. During their 4 years at NCC, one hundred (100%) percent of the class earned additional scholarship monies through KEES.
