Summer Drama Camp for Grade School Students

Hello Parents of Drama Campers!

My name is Gio Bakunawa and I will be taking over the Super Players Drama Camp the summer of 2017. Some of you and your children may know me as I usually taught, lead games, and was technical director for previous camps since 2013. For the parents who do not know me, I went to high school at NewCath and graduated in 2014. During my four years there, I was an avid member of the drama department. Last year, I directed the Hilltopper's (Alumni show) production of Young Frankenstein up at NCC. Currently, I work as a professional theatrical director and am a senior Directing major at the Conservatory for Theatre Arts at Webster University in St. Louis.

You may have received an email from Caitlyn Strassburger in March, but some of that information has changed. As I am the one who will be Camp Director this summer, I figured I would just send you all the information with help through NewCath's outlets.

So here is information we have as of now:

1) The cost will be, as always, $250 per camper. This includes the camp shirt, a copy of the script/music, and pizza lunch every Friday. Students entering 1st grade through graduating 8th graders are welcome to sign up.

2) The dates of the camp this year will be from June 12- July 1. Camp will be Monday-Friday from 8:00AM-2:00PM. I, and my staff, will be there every morning by 7:00AM just in case any of you need to do an early drop off.

3) We will not be doing Mulan Jr. Instead, there are several shows lined up, but the show would depend on how many campers we have. If you have any questions or concerns about the show possibilities, I can assure you we will try to obtain the "Jr." rights, therefore, making the show child appropriate.

4) Performances will be Friday, June 30 at 7PM and Saturday, July 1 at 2PM.

Nicole Sealy will be returning to the camp this summer as our choreographer. Joining me, again, this year will be Scott Froendhoff as our set designer and Tyler Tackett, to help me run the camp as Camp Coordinator. And we will invite some high school kids who are involved in the NCC drama department to volunteer as camp counselors for service hours.

If you have any questions regarding this information, please do not hesitate to contact me through call, text, or email. My cell phone number is (859)-462-8983. Please try to get back to me before Monday May 22.

Thank you very much!
