| In a continued effort to
improve student reading and comprehension skills, the English Department,
with approval from the administration, is requiring all students to read a
novel and to answer comprehension questions over the summer break. The
questions will be due the first full day of classes and should be turned in
to the student’s homeroom teacher. All students will be tested on the novel
during the first week of their English Part A class. The novels for the
various grade and ability levels are listed.

Dear Students and Parents:
As we head off to what will hopefully be a relaxing
summer, NCC’s English department would like to remind you of the summer
reading requirement.
The summer reading novels for each grade are listed
below. Comprehension questions for each novel are available on the school
website (www.ncchs.com)
or in the main office. Although completion of these questions is not
required, it is strongly suggested to guide student reading and
understanding of the novel.
All students will be tested over their novel the
second day of school regardless of whether or not the student has English
during the first trimester.
